11 Seek to Build Westborough Fire Station

The bid award will be announced during Tuesday night's selectmen's meeting.

The new Westborough Fire Station drew 11 construction bids Thursday.

The Municipal Building Committee opened the bids in the selectmen's meeting room at Westborough Town Hall. Town Manager Jim Malloy read the firms' names in alphabetical order.

The bid award will be announced at 6:25 p.m. Tuesday in the selectmen's meeting room, during the board of selectmen's meeting.

Earlier this summer, selectmen granted site plan approval for the new station, which will occupy the current station property at 42 Milk St.

Voters at the Oct. 15, 2012 special town meeting authorized $11.2 million to design and construct the new station next to the current one at 42 Milk St., which will be demolished. Voters agreed to borrow $10,008,000 and allocate $1,200,000 from free cash.

The new station should be ready for occupancy in January or early February 2015, Town Manager Jim Malloy said in April.
