Town Hall Departments Relocating

The renovation will take 12 to 14 months.

The Westborough Town Hall renovation project's new estimated cost is “10 percent below what the appropriation is," Town Manager Jim Malloy told selectmen Tuesday night.

Voters at the March 16 annual town meeting approved the borrowing of for the project.

The owner’s project manager has evaluated the estimated cost and presented the lower figure, Malloy said.

  • Assessor/Accountant: Forbes Municipal Building Room 24.
  • Treasurer/Collector: Forbes Municipal Building Room 25, the current health department office.
  • Town Clerk: Forbes Municipal Building Room 26, the current historical commission office.
  • Health Department: Central One Federal Credit Union second floor.
  • Historical Commission: Forbes Municipal Building third floor.
  • MIS/GIS: Department of Public Works building.
  • Recreation: Forbes Community Building.

Malloy said he planned to meet Wednesday with Public Works Manager John Walden about using the DPW training room, secondary planning room, and two conference rooms for the selectmen, town manager and town counsel offices.

“We think between those spaces, we can carve out enough room for all of us," Malloy said.

The new office locations will be posted on the town website and on a sign in front of town hall, he said.

Selectmen Vice Chairman George Barrette said he plans to meet with Westborough's clergy about finding "temporary, and maybe permanent housing” within their buildings for the scout groups that use the Forbes Community Building.
