Selectmen Honor Purple Heart Medal Recipients

The proclamation notes that "many citizens of our community have earned the Purple Heart Medal as a result of being wounded while engaged in combat with an enemy force, construed as a singularly meritorius act of essential service."

Selectmen proclaimed Westborough a "Purple Heart town" on Tuesday night, and "I think we're going to be only the second town" to do so, member Denny Drewry said.

Drewry suggested selectmen approve the proclamation. He is a Purple Heart Medal recipient, and an adjutant for Chapter 205 Central of the Department of Massachusetts Military Order of the Purple Heart.

The proclamation notes that "many citizens of our community have earned the Purple Heart Medal as a result of being wounded while engaged in combat with an enemy force, construed as a singularly meritorius act of essential service."

Drewry said that learning which Westborough residents have received the Purple Heart Medal is "my next project."
