Westborough Man Dies in Ashland Accident

Ashland Police are not identifying the victim pending notification of his next of kin.

A 47-year-old Westborough man died after the truck he was driving apparently struck two utility poles and rolled onto its roof in Ashland on Sunday night, Ashland Police Lt. Richard Briggs said Monday.

Ashland Police are not identifying the victim pending notification of his next of kin, Briggs said.

The accident was reported at 8:54 p.m. Sunday, Briggs said. The MetroWest Daily News reports the accident happened on Cordaville Road.

"First responding officers found the vehicle, a 2004 Ford F350, on its roof," Briggs said.

"It appears the vehicle left the road and knocked down two utility poles,
causing the vehicle to overturn.  The lone occupant/operator was found
unconscious in the vehicle.  He was subsequently pronounced dead at the
scene.

"(The) Mass State Police Accident Reconstruction Team is investigating the
accident to determine a cause.  It does appear that speed may have been a
factor in the accident."
