Legalizing Medical Use of Marijuana Could Affect Westborough

Massachusetts voters’ support for legalizing the medical use of marijuana could affect Westborough. Town officials will begin preparing for that Tuesday night. The planning board has invited members of the board of health, the school committee and the police department, and Town Counsel Gregory Franks, to a 6 p.m. meeting at the Forbes Municipal Building, Town Planner Jim Robbins said Thursday. Massachusetts voters on Nov. 6 passed Question 3, a proposed law to “eliminate state criminal and civil penalties for the medical use of marijuana by qualified patients.” The law, which takes effect Jan. 1, allows for non-profit medical marijuana treatment centers, which would be required to have Massachusetts Department of Public Health …
