Mexican Wine Tasting Opens Spring Festival

The festival continues today and Sunday.

A Mexican wine tasting kicked off the 11th annual Westborough Spring Festival on Friday night. The Tres de Mayo event was held at Julio's Liquors Metro Station, in the Westborough Shopping Center. The Rotary Club of Westborough has organized the 11th annual spring festival, which continues today and Sunday. The presenting sponsor is Roche Bros. The title sponsor is Avidia Bank. The platinum event sponsors are Ball Financial, Elite Dental Care, and St. Mary’s Credit Union. The major sponsors are Curry Printing, and the Westboro Tennis and Swim Club. Mexican Wine Tasting Opens Spring Festival

The Tres de Mayo event is Friday night.

The Westborough Spring Festival starts Friday night with  “a little fun with the name ‘Cinco de Mayo,’” Julio’s Liquors owner Ryan Maloney said Tuesday. The second Tres de Mayo wine tasting is from 7 to 9 p.m. at Julio’s Metro Station, in the Westborough Shopping Center, at Route 9 at Lyman Street. Tickets are $25, and available only to ages 21 and older at www.westboroughrotary.org or www.juliosliquors.com. Space is limited to 150 people. The event kicks off the spring festival hosted by the Rotary Club of Westborough. Julio's Liquors Supports Marathon Tragedy Victims

The Westborough Shopping Center shop will donate to The One Fund Boston Inc. $4 from every $17.99 bottle of Cabin Fever it sells this weekend.

Westborough's Julio's Liquors is raising funds to support those affected by the Boston Marathon tragedy. The Westborough Shopping Center shop will donate to The One Fund Boston Inc. $4 from every $17.99 bottle of Cabin Fever it sells this weekend, according to the store's Facebook page. Julio's Liquors and the Robillard Family will donate $2 each.

Wine Lovers May Say 'Je T'Aime' on Valentine's Day

Julio's Liquors holds a wine tasting Thursday.

A bottle of wine says “I love you” on Valentine’s Day, literally. “Je T’Aime is one of the nicest wines, I think, for the holiday, just because it’s ‘I love,’” Julio’s Liquors Wine Director Abraham Lerner said Tuesday. Valentine’s Day is the theme of the latest weekly wine tasting at Julio’s, at 140 Turnpike Road, from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday. Lerner said he will present about 10 wines, “a cross section” of the options. “These events that we do are great ways for people to taste things that they might not normally do because they have to pay for an entire bottle.,” he said. “And the price range we usually taste from is anywhere from $7 up to $150 a bottle.” Besides Je T’Aime, Lerner recommends for Valentine’s Day a Rosa Regale Brachetto, “…

Westborough Boy Scouts Prepared for Packed Year

This year's Good Scout Dinner is on Nov. 7.

Westborough’s three Boy Scout troops are preparing for a year of events and service projects. This summer, all three troops attended a week at Camp Resolute in Bolton, and one troop travelled to Cimarron Mexico and hiked for 11 days in the Rocky Mountains at the Philmont Scout Ranch, one of the Boy Scouts’ high adventure camps. This year, the troops will camp throughout New England, from climbing Mt. Greylock to bicycling on Cape Cod; from winter camping in the White Mountains of New Hampshire to deep sea fishing off the New England coast; from whitewater rafting on the Deerfield River to exploring Purgatory Chasm in Whitinsville. Next summer, about 25 Westborough scouts and five adult leaders will attend the National Jamboree, at the …

Spring Festival Will Take Place Rain or Shine

This is the schedule of activities taking place in Westborough this weekend.

  The Westborough Spring Festival kicks off Friday evening, May 4 and runs through Sunday, May 6. According to the National Weather Service, there could be some Spring rain on Saturday, but organizers say that will not dampen the excitement. “The pending rain Saturday will not interfere with the fabulous events planned for the town of Westborough to enjoy,” said Carol Burtt Borgland, chairperson of the 10th Annual Westborough Spring Festival. “Games, fun and live music performances will take place at Bay State Commons.” All proceeds from the event will be used by the club to fund scholarships, fuel assistance, community dinners, free holiday store, giving grants, Scouting programs, Little League and more.    The event schedule is as …

Wine Tasting Benefit is Open to the Community

The Westborough Community Land Trust organized a festive event to celebrate its birthday.

A wine tasting benefit will be held on Sunday, March 25 at Arturo’s Ristorante, 54 East Main St., from 4 to 7 p.m. Proceeds will benefit WCLT and the cause of land preservation and stewardship in Westborough. Appetizers will be prepared by the restaurant staff, and an assortment of wines will offered by Julio's Liquors. Reality TV followers waited hours at Julio's Liquors to meet Mike Sorrentino.

Julio’s Liquors had a situation in the store Friday night. Jersey Shore cast member Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino, that is. The MTV reality star made an appearance at the local store to promote Devotion Vodka. The always-stylish Sorrentino was fashionably late, making his entrance an hour after the set start time. However, his tardiness did not break the excitement of the crowd. The line of people waiting for his signature wrapped around the perimeter of the store and along the outside of the building as it continued to rain. Fans ranged from a 2-year-old all the way up to a grey-haired blow out (a popular Jersey shore hairstyle).
