The idea was generated to alleviate traffic issues at the Routes 495/90/9 interchanges.
There are certain givens when it comes to the Westborough rotary: confused out-of-town drivers, Phil’s Barbershop and a passing Harvey’s truck. But a new proposal may take one of those constants away. At its March 27 meeting, the Board of Selectmen voted to send a letter to Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) Secretary Richard Davey in support of allowing trucks from Harvey’s to access the Mass Pike from Route 135 near the Hopkinton border. Allowing the access will significantly reduce the number of trucks going through the downtown areas of both Westborough and Hopkinton, Town Manager Jim Malloy explained. The idea is not new, but it has gained momentum in light of a recent focus on congestion at the Routes 495/90/9 …

EL Harvey truck leaks hydraulic fluid on its maiden voyage.
At about 10:30 a.m., an EL Harvey & Sons vehicle on its first trip through town leaked hydraulic fluid on Glen Street in Grafton and Westborough, forcing the street to be closed for clean-up. The vehicle was on its “maiden voyage,’’ Grafton Fire Chief Michael Gauthier said. “It only had about 600 miles on it.’’ EL Harvey & Sons handles the town's trash collection. The spill began near 21 Glen St. in Grafton and continued into Westborough over the town line. Because a portion of the spill happened in Westborough, Westborough Fire Department responded to the scene as well. The exact amount of fluid released in the spill was not immediately known. Regulations require environmental officials to be notified when more than 10 gallons are spilled…
