Rough Weather Expected This Afternoon

The National Weather Service warns of severe thunderstorms and flash flooding.

A big green blob that we are accustomed to seeing on a weather map to indicate heavy rain is heading our way. Not only that, it has a lot of red and yellow in it, too. The National Weather Service in Taunton has issued a severe thunderstorm warning, a flash flood warning and a flood advisory for this afternoon. The notices cover parts of central Massachusetts, and Westborough has been included in each of these notices. “At 1:32 p.m. EDT, National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated a severe thunderstorm capable of producing golf ball size hail and damaging winds in excess of 60 mph,” NWS reported. “This storm was located near Amherst and was moving east at 15 mph…radar estimates that up to two inches of rain has fallen in some …

Flash Flood Warning Canceled

The National Weather Service canceled this warning at 8:21 p.m.

UPDATE: The National Weather Service canceled this warning at 8:21 p.m. Taunton, MA - At 7:33 p.m. on Wednesday, June 1, the National Weather Service (NWS) updated the flash flood warning in effect for southeaster Worcester County and central Massachusetts, including the Westborough area. The warning remains in efffect until 8:45 p.m. According to the NWS, at 7:27 p.m., “Doppler radar indicated that the largest cluster of thunderstorms had tracked east of the warning area. However, radar indicated another thunderstorm producing locally heavy rains that is expected to track over locations that had already received heavy rain. The thunderstorm is expected to move through the Milford to Hopkinton and medfield areas between 7:30 and 8:30 p.m…
