Potential owners also looking in Shrewsbury.
An Indian restaurant franchise is being considered at the shopping center, Director of Public Health Paul McNulty says. McNulty, Health Inspector Terry Gilchrist and "a number of department heads" met last month with "several people who are looking into possibly opening a restaurant at this small plaza," he told the board of health in his December report. "The proposers did not have any experience in food service, but they said that the parent company would train them for two months," McNulty wrote. "They are also looking at a site in Shrewsbury."

Sake Hana's owners received a variance from the board of health Tuesday night.
A sushi restaurant will replace Hisa Japanese Cuisine on Westborough's rotary. The Sake Hana received a variance to offer sushi Tuesday night from the board of health, which held a public hearing at the Forbes Municipal Building. The board ruled that anyone involved with preparing the sushi must be certified. Sushi is a "potentially hazardous food," Health Inspector Terry Gilchrist said. Yu Jiang said she and her husband will own the Sake Hana and relocate to this area from Brooklyn, N.Y. Hisa opened at 21 South St. in 1998. Its management changed in the fall of 2010.

The cause is under investigation.
Dozens were evacuated from the Chateau after an outside bark mulch fire reached the front of the Westborough restaurant tonight. Westborough firefighters received a 911 call from the Italian family restaurant at 7:07 p.m. saying there was “smoke in the restaurant and it seemed to be coming from the cellar," Capt. Robert Rand said at the scene, 95 Turnpike Road (Route 9). Firefighters found the smoke, and “found a bark mulch fire outside just by the front door, and it had extended into the wall of the front of the restaurant," Rand said. Dozens of people were at the restaurant at the time, he said. No injuries were reported. The restaurant is "closed until further notice," Rand said. The fire's cause is under investigation, he said.

Restaurant owner expects to 're-open within two weeks.'
The Bangkok Thai Restaurant has not gone out of business, despite what a "closed" sign may suggest. The East Main Street eatery at 57 East Main St. is "temporarily without a lead chef," and expects to "re-open within two weeks," owner "B.B." said Thursday in a statement released through his attorney, John Matson. "The chef who has worked at Bangkok Thai since it opened has some personal (matters) out of state to deal with," the statement says. Tuesday night, voters at Westborough's special town meeting authorized selectmen to petition the state Legislature for an additional all-alcoholic beverages license, specifically for the Bangkok Thai. The Bangkok Thai Restaurant held a grand opening at 57 East Main St. last Dec. 8. The Mandarin …
