Holy Name wins tournament quarterfinal.
The Westborough High School varsity girls basketball team lost to host Holy Name, 58-33, in a 2013 MIAA Girls Basketball Central Division 1 quarterfinal on Friday night, according to the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association website. Holy Name advances to the semi-finals at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Clark University against Shepherd Hill, which defeated host Doherty, 58-44, in a quarterfinal on Friday night. The winner of the Holy Name-Shepherd Hill semi-final will play the winner of the Algonquin-Wachusett semi-final in the finals, at 7 p.m. March 9 at Fitchburg State University. The semi-final game of the 11th Annual Westborough Invitational Tournament was Tuesday night at Westborough High School.
The Algonquin varsity girls basketball team defeated host Westborough, 54-29, in a semi-final game of the 11th Annual Westborough Invitational Tournament at Westborough High School on Tuesday night, WHS Athletic Director Johanna DiCarlo said. Algonquin will play Holy Name in the tournament championship game at 7 p.m. Friday at Westborough High, DiCarlo said. Holy Name defeated Doherty, 56-33, in a semi-final game Tuesday night, she said. In the other two semi-final games, Franklin defeated Quaboag, 66-44. And Shepherd Hill defeated Millbury, 61-33. The tournament opened Sunday.

The Rangers defeated Quaboag on Sunday night.
The Westborough High School varsity girls basketball team defeated Quaboag, 66-47, in the first round of the 11th Annual Westborough Invitational Tournament on Sunday night, according to Athletic Director Johanna DiCarlo. The game was the fourth and final one of the tournament's opening round. The round also raised funds for Play 4Kay, is an initiative of the Kay Yow Cancer Fund, which runs in partnership with the Women's College Basketball Association and the V Foundation, according to the program's website. Sunday's other three tournament results were, DiCarlo said: Doherty 35, Millbury 34; Holy Name 51, Shepherd Hill 38; and Algonquin 58, Franklin 46. The tournament semi-finals are Tuesday.
