The Westborough Girl Scouts have had booths set up around town during the weekends.
Motorists traveling through Westborough on the weekends are often picking up cookies along with their coffee and doughnuts. Westborough Girl Scouts are selling cookies at booths and tables around town. Westborough Patch spotted some on Route 30, near Sovereign Bank, on Saturday morning. The cookies are $4 per box, and eight varieties are available. The Scouts' schedule is found here.

The annual Scout-O, an orienteering meet and competition for all Scouts, occurred the weekend of Oct. 26 to Oct. 28 at Nobscot Scout Reservation in Sudbury. Westborough scouts from both Boy Scout Troop 382 and Girl Scout Troop 30507 competed. Saturday was spent practicing running through the woods with a map and compass, looking for the orange orienteering flags. Three levels of courses were available: white, the easiest, was mostly on trails; yellow was harder, with the flags somewhat off trail; and orange was the hardest, with the flags completely off trail. Sunday was the actual competition, with scouts competing in groups of two to three on courses based on their age, gender and scout rank. The adult leaders were also encouraged to…

To the Editor: Girl Scout Troop 30635 would like to extend a sincere thank you to Westborough and the surrounding communities. The tremendous support of both the Camp To Belong/Sibling Connections service project and our yard sale to raise funds for our service/adventure trip to Costa Rica is greatly appreciated. The supplies donated for Camp To Belong went to support craft activities at the camp, as well as to help decorate for their camp-wide birthday celebration. Supplies left over – because abundance does not even begin to describe the volume of the donations – will be used by troops for service projects throughout the year. The yard sale was also a huge success. Thank you for the many donations that contributed to that success. We had…

To the Editor: The Westborough Girl Scouts consists of 26 troops with over 315 girl members. Our volunteers make it possible to have troop meetings and deliver the Girl Scout Leadership Experience. As we have celebrated this year our organization's (Girl Scouts of the USA) 100th anniversary, we also celebrate our community support. Whether during the fall product or cookie sale, helping with donations to the various service projects, supporting our older girls as they work and complete their Bronze, Silver or Gold awards, being a guest speaker at a meeting, or helping provide space in town for all our activities, your community support is vital to our work. In various partnerships with the Westborough Youth and Family Services, Camp …

Certificates of Community Support are awarded to those who support the Girl Scouts.
Judy Wilchynski and Marilyn Lyle of the Westborough Girl Scouts recognized Westborough Patch and its editor, MaryJo Kurtz, with a Certificate of Community Support. The award was one of four given to members of the community who have supported the Girl Scout program. “The Westborough Patch is a great supporter of our girls, volunteers and projects,” Wilchynski, service unit manager for the Westborough Girl Scouts, told a nearly full auditorium at Gibbons Middle School on June 11. “They have been fantastic at supporting the Girl Scouts of Westborough with news and postings of troops activities, award projects and fundraising events. MaryJo Kurtz came to Cadette Troop 30630 to speak to the girls about media for their Journey project,” Lyle …

Six Westborough Girl Scouts, Cadette level and higher, recently completed a quilting workshop that began in the spring. Girl Scouts included Katherine Baldwin, Margaret Baldwin, Erin McCarthy, Amanda Borglund, Bhargavi Ram and Kaleigh Wright. Run by Paul Cassello and Julie Baldwin, the workshop taught many valuable lessons. The journey began with each quilter purchasing the proper tools: rotary cutter and mat, seam ripper, fabric and paper scissors, transparent ruler, cotton fabric and thread. Next was the fun part: choosing fabrics. "The best thing about the class was when we picked out all of our fabrics," said Bharagvi Ram. "It was exciting to choose from the many varieties. I went with my all-time favorite: Pooh Bear!" "I thought the …
