Man Arrested For Missing Court Date

Police initially arrested him last Monday.

A Westborough man has been arrested for the second time in less than a week, this time for missing his first court date. Police arrested Dana C. Osis, 43, of 7 Lincoln St., Apt. 2, on Lincoln Street at 6:14 p.m. Saturday on two default warrants, according to the Westborough Police log. Westborough District Court officials issued the warrants after Osis failed to appear following his arrest last Monday on a default warrant and a straight warrant, Police Chief Alan Gordon said today.

Nearly $3K in Restitution in Larceny Case

A larceny by check case was among those heard Thursday in Westborough District Court.

Thursday, Jan. 17 Thomas J. Reid,  69, of 2 Williamsburg Ct., Apt. 1, Shrewsbury, was arrested by Massachusetts State Police and charged with operating under the influence of alcohol (second offense) and speeding. Judge Robert Calagione released Reid on personal recognizance and scheduled a pretrial hearing for March 8.  Ann M. Benoit, 39, of 249 Cambridge St., Worcester, was arrested by Shrewsbury police and charged with possession of a class B substance (subsequent offense). Judge Robert Calagione dismissed the charges at the request of prosecutors. Anthony F. Melo, 31, of 4 Glen Rd., Apt. 528, Hudson, was summonsed to court on a complaint from Northborough police to face charges of operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license and …

Bail for Driver Accused of Trying to Run Down Officer

The following cases were heard in Westborough District Court.

Wednesday, Jan. 16 Sudip K. Sengupta, 30, of 55 Commons St., Shrewsbury, was arrested by Shrewsbury police and charged with assault with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, destruction of property over $250, disorderly conduct and disturbing the peace. Judge David Locke ordered Sengupta held on $2,500 cash or $25,000 surety and scheduled a pretrial hearing for Feb. 8. According to police, an officer spotted Sengupta, who was known for having outstanding warrants and who drove at the officer as he attempted to make an arrest. Sengupta later drove through traffic and struck a Shrewsbury cruiser.  Robert W. Ferris, 29, of 401 Buckminster St., T1, Norwood, was arrested by Northborough police and charged with …

Alleged Christmas Tree Scammer Held on Bail

The Shrewsbury case was one of several heard in Westborough District Court on Monday.

Monday, Jan. 14   A judge ordered a Shrewsbury man held on $1,000 cash bail following his arraignment Monday on charges that he scammed a local church parish out of nearly $500 by pretending to return Christmas trees that he never purchased.   Bernard H. Hosking, 50, of 24 Artemas St., Shrewsbury, was summonsed to court on a complaint from Shrewsbury police to face charges of larceny over $250 by single scheme and larceny under $250 by single scheme.  Police allege that on several dates during December, Hosking went to the Christmas tree sale run by the Trinity Episcopal Church and asked for refunds for trees he claimed to have purchased recently. He told workers that he had already placed the tree he wanted to return back among the others…

Judge Hears Statutory Rape, Drunken-Driving Cases

The following cases were heard in Westborough District Court.

Thursday, Jan. 10   Charles M. Leffler, 82, of 14 Fay Mountain Rd., Grafton, was arraigned in on four counts of statutory rape of a child. Judge Vito Virzi released Leffler on personal recognizance, ordering him to have no contact with anyone under 16 years of age.   According to court documents, the victim recently came forward to police and said she first met Leffler when she took riding lessons from him at a stable on Upton St. She later worked with Leffler both there and at a business that offered pony rides.  Leffler is due back in court on Feb. 13 for a pretrial hearing.  Anthony D. Masielo, 35, of 3 Leland Hill Rd., S. Grafton, was summonsed to court on a complaint from Grafton police to face a charge of disorderly conduct. Judge …

'Road Rage' Incident Leads to OUI Arrest

The following cases were heard in Westborough District Court.

Wednesday, Jan. 9 Erin Maguire, 24, of 169 East St., Upton, was arrested by Grafton police and charged with operating under the influence of alcohol and negligent operation of a motor vehicle. Judge Robert Calagione released Maguire on personal recognizance and scheduled a pretrial hearing for Feb. 25. According to a police report, Maguire was arrested after police responded to a report of a road rage incident in progress on Route 140 near the Grafton Flea Market. A second driver said he attempted to pass Maguire's car, which he told police was traveling well below the speed limit, and that Maguire's car struck his as he passed.  Eight protestors arrested by Westborough police at TransCanada's office on Tuesday were arraigned before Judge …

Area Man Supports TransCanada Protest

The arraignments of the eight people involved in Monday's sit-in now are Wednesday.

The eight people arrested after a sit-in at TransCanada's Westborough office now will be arraigned Wednesday, Westborough District Court officials said today. However, the word that the proceedings were expected today inspired one supporter to hold a “Stop the XL Pipeline. Save the Earth!” sign outside the courthouse. Worcester resident Scott Schaeffer-Duffy said came to the court after reading about Monday’s protest at TransCanada, 110 Turnpike Road, Suite 203. Eight current and recent college students were arrested after chaining themselves together and super glueing their hands there. Probation, Apology for Keeper of Disorderly House

The following cases were heard in Westborough DIstrict Court.

Monday, Jan. 7  Oscar Mendoza Jr., 17, of 7 Jane St., Shrewsbury, was summonsed to court on a complaint from Shrewsbury police to face charges of keeping a noisy and disorderly house, larceny under $250, being a person under 20 procuring and possessing alcohol and receiving stolen property. Judge Vito Virzi continued without a finding for one year the disorderly house and procuring liquor charges, ordering Mendoza to undergo supervised probation until Aug. 15, 2013 and to write a letter of apology to Shrewsbury police by Jan. 31. He also must enroll in the Brains at Risk program. According to a police report, officers responded to a reported underage drinking party at an address known to them from previous incidents. Man Arraigned After Allegedly Assaulting Person Twice

The following cases were heard in Westborough District Court.

Wednesday, Jan. 2   Kyle G. Thomas, 53, of 33 Samuel Dr., N. Grafton, was arrested by Shrewsbury police and charged with two counts of assault and battery, disturbing the peace, breaking and entering in the nighttime for a felony. Judge Robert Calagione ordered Thomas held on $1,000 cash bail and scheduled a pretrial hearing for Feb. 21. According to a police report, officers were first called to an address on Arbor Drive just after midnight on New Year's Eve for a reported domestic disturbance. By the time officers arrived, Thomas had left the scene, but paperwork was undertaken to charge him with assault and battery. Later, around 4:23 a.m., a call from the same neighbor who had called in the original disturbance brought officers back to…

Man Faces Charges After Soccer Game Assault

The following cases were heard in Westborough District Court.

Monday, Dec. 31 Davis Asare, 21, of 14 Villiage Way, Apt. 2, Webster, was summonsed to court on a complaint from Northborough police to face a charge of assault and battery. Judge Vito Virzi released him on personal recognizance and set a pretrial hearing for Feb. 15. According to a police report, Asare is charged in connection with an incident that occurred during a soccer game at Teamworks.  Shannon Williams, 17, of 33 Hyder St., Westborough, was arrested by Westborough police and charged with assault and battery. Judge Vito Virzi released Williams on $500 cash bail and scheduled a pretrial hearing for Feb. 7.
