Spring Festival 5K to Honor Marathon Tragedy Victims

A ribbon has been added to this year's race bib.

Runners in Westborough's Spring Festival road race will honor those affected by the Boston Marathon tragedy. A ribbon has been added to the bib for the race, "to recognize what happened," event Chairman Jessica Thomas said today. The 11th Annual Westborough Spring Festival 5K Road Race on Sunday, May 5 at Westborough High School. Registration starts at 8 a.m., and the race at 9 a.m. "It's a road race, and what happened on Monday was a similar event," Thomas said. "It was a road race, a very historical one, and no one expected what happened to happen. "We're also trying to get arm bands for all the runners." Wellness Expo Draws Steady Traffic

The Westboro Tennis and Swim Club's 8th annual event featured about 25 to 30 vendors.

Several hundred people visited the Westboro Tennis and Swim Club today, and many of them learned ways to live healthier. With local merchants' help. The 8th Annual Local Business Health and Wellness Expo featured about 25 to 30 vendors. A number of them offered visitors giveaways, and registration for their services.

Fitness Club Gears Up For Challenge

The Westboro Tennis and Swim Club's 2013 Group Weight Loss Challenge begins next week.

One might call a game that starts next week at the Westboro Tennis and Swim Club “The No-Sweets 16.” The club’s 2013 Group Weight Loss Challenge features 16 group workouts, and three 30-minute training sessions, in a “The Biggest Loser”- style contest. Teams of up to 10 people will compete. Each member of the winning team gets a $50 club gift card, and the individual winner on that team gets a $100 club gift card. The program runs from Monday, Jan. 7 to Friday, March 8. Admission is $199 for fitness members, and $299 for all others. “Most people will actually pick their group as to what time they want to work out,” club General Manager/Owner Justin Lundberg said Wednesday. Businesses to Hold Court at Tennis Club

The Westboro Tennis and Swim Club's 8th Annual Local Business Health and Wellness Expo is Saturday.

Visitors to the Westboro Tennis and Swim Club on Saturday may leave with their faces painted, gift certificates to local merchants, and a handshake from Finz. About 25 to 30 vendors are expected at the 8th Annual Local Business Health and Wellness Expo, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the club, 35 Chauncy St. Admission is free. The businesses are “vendors who we think are local, good businesses that support (the) local economy and that our members would have an interest in,” club General Manager/Owner Justin Lundberg said Wednesday. Man Arraigned on Child Porn Charges

Joshua Lundberg, a former instructor at Westboro Tennis and Swim Club, was arraigned on charges related to child pornography.

  A Northborough resident and former Westboro Tennis and Swim Club instructor was arraigned on Wednesday in Worcester Superior Court before Judge James Lemire on charges that he possessed and distributed child pornography. Joshua Lundberg, 28, 19 Cold Harbor Dr., Northborough, was indicted on March 23 by the Worcester County Grand Jury on three counts of possession of child pornography and one count of distribution of visual material of a child in sexual conduct. The charges stemmed from an investigation that started on Oct. 7, when the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit in Worcester was sent peer-to-peer files involving pictures and videos of the sexual exploitation and abuse of children, according to police. Westborough Tennis Instructor Admits to Child Sex Crimes

A police report filed at Westborough District Court states the Northborough man admitted to numerous crimes involving child pornography.

  A tennis instructor at Westboro Tennis and Swim Club was charged in Westborough District Court today with two counts of possession of child pornography and two counts of dissemination of child pornography. Joshua E. Lundberg, 28, of 19 Cold Harbor Dr., Northborough, was taken into custody last night and booked at the Northborough Police Department. His arrest follows a four-month investigation by the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit (SPDU). According to the police report, the SPDU in Worcester was forwarded an undercover peer-to-peer file sharing investigation involving pictures and videos involving the sexual exploitation and abuse of children.
