Protester Advised to Stay Away from TransCanada

The Framingham man was arraigned today.

A Framingham man who protested in Westborough last Friday was advised, but not ordered, today that staying away from TransCanada's Northeast Regional Office in Westborough is in his best interests, according to the Westborough District Court criminal clerk's office. Kenneth Weiss, 35, of 54 Harrington Road, Framingham was arraigned today by a clerk magistrate, who also offered the advice, the clerk's office said.  Westborough Police charged Weiss and Linda A. Jenkins, 64, of 189 Charles St., Cambridge with trespassing in the latest Keystone XL Pipeline protest outside the building where TransCanada is, 110 Turnpike Road, Suite 203, for roughly 30 minutes last Friday.  Veterans For Peace members and others were part of the group. TransCanada Protester Gets Stay Away Order

One of two Keystone XL Pipeline protesters arrested Friday was ordered today to stay away from TransCanada's Northeast Regional Office in Westborough, according to the Westborough District Court criminal clerk's office. Linda A. Jenkins, 64, of 189 Charles St., Cambridge was arraigned today. Westborough Police charged her with trespassing. Jenkins' case was continued to May 3, the clerk's office said. Arraignment is set today for the other protester arrested and charged with trespassing, the clerk's office said: Kenneth Weiss, 35, of 54 Harrington Road, Framingham. Third Protest Ends Quickly

Two people arrested for trespassing.

The third Keystone XL Pipeline protest in Westborough ended today with two demonstrators arrested for trespassing. Veterans For Peace members and others stood outside the building where TransCanada's Northeast Regional Office is, 110 Turnpike Road, Suite 203, for 30 minutes, starting around 12:45 p.m., Police Chief Alan Gordon said in a press release. One woman read a poem. The demonstrators also chanted. A Westborough Police officer then instructed the group that the property manager wanted them to leave, and that they would be arrested for trespassing unless they complied. TransCanada Protesters Get Pre-Trial Probation

The 25 people arrested while protesting at TransCanada's Northeast Regional Office in Westborough on Monday were placed on pre-trial probation for three months today, according to the Westborough District Court criminal clerk's office. The defendants also were ordered to stay away from the TransCanada office, at 110 Turnpike Road, Suite 203, according to the clerk's office. More than 100 opponents of the proposed Keystone XL pipeline protested and sung at TransCanada shortly before 11 a.m. Monday. More than 100 attended this morning's protest of the proposed Keystone XL Pipeline.

More than 100 opponents of the proposed Keystone XL pipeline protested and sung at TransCanada's Northeast Regional Office in Westborough this morning, the second such protest at the Route 9 building this winter. “If this pipeline is approved and is built, it will put us on a serious path forward to significant climate change,” said Becca Rast, a Brown University senior from Lancaster, Pa. “For my generation, my peers, I don’t want to see us moving forward on a path to irreversible climate change.” Police arrested 25 members of the group who had handcuffed themselves together, and charged them with trespassing and disorderly conduct, Police Chief Alan Gordon said in a press release. Restitution Sought From TransCanada Protestors

Prosecutors will seek "a considerable amount of restitution" from the eight current and former college students charged in Monday's sit-in at TransCanada's Westborough office, Assistant District Attorney Julieanne Richard said today. All eight were released on personal recognizance and ordered to stay away from that office after being arraigned in Westborough District Court this morning. They each were charged with trespassing and disorderly conduct. Not guilty pleas were entered on their behalf. Their cases were all continued to March 4. The individuals were: Shea M. The eight people arrested after a sit-in at TransCanada's Westborough office now will be arraigned Wednesday, Westborough District Court officials said today. Eight current and recent college students protesting at TransCanada's Westborough office by chaining themselves together and super glueing their hands were arrested tonight after a nearly four-hour sit-in. The group was protesting the proposed Keystone XL Pipeline, according to the "Stop the Keystone XL Pipeline" website. The website describes the Keystone XL Pipeline as "a proposed 1,400-mile pipeline that would transport tar sands oil from the Canadian tar sands to the Gulf of Mexico. The southern leg is currently being constructed in the face of massive local opposition in Texas."
