Patch Picture of the Week Contest

WINNER: Thanksgiving Photo Contest

For nearly a week, Patch readers have been uploading photos. We've crowned our winner.

All photos uploaded before 6 p.m. yesterday were under consideration to be crowned the winner in Patch's Picture of the Week Contest. After deliberating, we had to go with Nicole McKay's photo, as shown above.  Congratulations, Nicole, and thank you to all those who participated! Please continue to share your photos with us, either through our blogging platform or by uploading to your local Patch site's Pics and Clips gallery. Nicole, we'll be emailing you so we can make arrangements to get you your $25 gift card. Return to Patch tomorrow, when you can start uploading pictures for our next …

Gratitude a Theme of Interfaith Thanksgiving Service

The Unitarian Universalist Congregational Society of Westborough hosted Wednesday night's service.

Westborough's 40th Annual Interfaith Community Service Thanksgiving Service included wisdom from Hebrew Scripture, Christian Scripture, the Ute Indians of North America, an anonymous poet, and a Springfield Nuclear Power Plant safety inspector. "A Prayer of Gratitude" by Homer -- Simpson -- was recited by Rabbi Rachel Gurevitz during her sermon, "A Thankful Heart Changes Everything." While praying, Simpson says, "You freeze everything the way it is, and I won't ask for anything else," Gurevitz told the crowd at the Unitarian Universalist Congregational Society of Westborough on Wednesday night. "Really the only thing in this world that stays the same is change," said Gurevitz, the spiritual leader of Congregation B'nai Shalom. Gurevitz …

Bragging Rights at Stake on Turkey Day

Algonquin Regional and Westborough's Thanksgiving rivalry continues Thursday at the Rangers' home.

Bragging rights will be at stake at Westborough High School this Thanksgiving. Neither the Algonquin Regional nor the Westborough varsity football teams are vying for the post-season entering their holiday rivalry's 10:15 a.m. kickoff. The Tomahawks are 2-8, while the Rangers are 1-9. However, "the Thanksgiving tradition between Westborough and Algonquin is strong," Westborough head coach Mark Ellis said Tuesday. "No matter what the records are going in, it's anybody's game," said Ellis, who's in his 16th season at Westborough, the last 12 as head coach. Pre-sale tickets are currently available for $5 at the Westborough High main office.  Tickets will be $10 at the gate. The Westborough High School Student Council will sell Lizzi …
