Two of Westborough's state legislators will speak with residents in town over the next week. State Rep. Matthew Beaton (R-Shrewsbury) will discuss the State House budget talks during the Westborough Republican Town Committee's monthly meeting, at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Celtic Tavern, on Route 9 in Northborough, the committee said Monday night in a press release. The event is open to registered Westborough Republicans. Beaton will hold office hours from 11 a.m. to noon Friday, May 17 at the Westborough Senior Center, according to the Westborough Council on Aging's May newsletter. State Rep. Danielle Gregoire (D-Marlborough) will hold office hours at the senior center from 10 to 11 a.m. this Friday, according to the newsletter.

Two of Westborough's three state representatives voted against the $500 million state transportation finance bill that would increase the town's transportation funding by $412,143 for the fiscal year starting this July 1. The House approved the legislation by a 97-55 vote Monday night, the Associated Press reported Tuesday. "That margin would fall just shy, however, of the necessary votes to override a threatened veto by Gov. Deval Patrick, who says the bill won’t do enough to repair and upgrade the state’s aging transportation infrastructure," the AP reported. I give Danielle Gregoire credit for her vote on another half a billion $ tax increase - too bad Carolyn Dykema has never met a tax she did not like. However, a recent vote on allowing 24 hours for rep's to read major financial bills before voting had only Matt Beaton voting NO - both Ms Gregoire and Dykema were happy with no time to read where all our tax dollars are spent.
