A new Westborough bank will send community members hunting around town for treasure before its July 13 grand opening. St. Mary's Credit Union's "Stache Yo Cash Scavenger Hunt" runs from June 24 to July 12, spokesman Sarah Day said. The game starts at the new Westborough branch, at 96 Turnpike Road, which will provide the first clue to the puzzle, and a game T-shirt, Day said. Clues then will lead to five sites around town, she said. Anyone bringing a completed puzzle to the July 13 grand opening will win a prize, such as a gift certificate to a local business, Day said. Ground was broken today at a new bank at the intersection of routes 9 and 30 in Westborough that will participate in two big events in 2013. The opening of St. Mary’s Credit Union’s newest branch, and the celebration of St. Mary’s 100th anniversary, Vice President of Marketing Anthony Battista said during the ceremony. St. Mary's Credit Union breaks ground on its first Westborough branch next Tuesday morning. The 10 a.m. ceremony at 96 Turnpike Road, the intersection of routes 9 and 30 will involve members of the Westborough Board of Selectmen, Town Manager Jim Malloy, and officials from St. Mary's Credit Union and the Corridor Nine Chamber of Commerce, bank officials said today in a press release. The bank is expected to open in mid-2013, bank officials said. St. Mary's Credit Union checked off another task Tuesday night toward opening its first Westborough branch. Selectmen approved the bank's site plan for 96 Turnpike Road, the former Friendly's, following a public hearing at Westborough Town Hall. "I'm just excited," Selectman George Barrette said. "Friendly's has been an eyesore since they closed." St. Mary's Credit Union bought the site earlier this year. Opening here in July 2013 opening is the goal, bank executive James Petkwich said.
