The National Weather Service warns residents to seek shelter if a storm develops.
The National Weather Service (NWS), in a special weather statement issued at 4:59 a.m. on Thursday, June 9, warned that severe thunderstorms are a possibility this afternoon in southern New England, including the Westborough area. “Various ingredients appear to be coming together to set the stage for a round of strong to severe thunderstorms from mid afternoon into the evening. Threats will include damaging straight line winds and large hail,” reported the NWS. The storms raise the possibility of localized flooding and frequent lightning. At 9:18 p.m., the National Weather Service canceled the thunderstorm warning which had been in effect until 9:30 p.m.
UPDATE: The National Weather Service canceled this warning at 9:18 p.m. Taunton, MA - At 7:57 p.m. on Wednesday, June 1, the National Weather Service in Taunton issued a severe thunderstorm warning for southeastern Worcester County in central Massachusetts, including Westborough area. The warning is in effect until 9:30 p.m. According to the NWS, at 7:54 p.m., “Doppler radar indicated a severe thunderstorm capable of producing quarter size hail and damaging winds in excess of 60 mph. UPDATE: The National Weather Service canceled this warning at 8:21 p.m. Taunton, MA - At 7:33 p.m. on Wednesday, June 1, the National Weather Service (NWS) updated the flash flood warning in effect for southeaster Worcester County and central Massachusetts, including the Westborough area. The warning remains in efffect until 8:45 p.m. According to the NWS, at 7:27 p.m., “Doppler radar indicated that the largest cluster of thunderstorms had tracked east of the warning area. However, radar indicated another thunderstorm producing locally heavy rains that is expected to track over locations that had already received heavy rain. The thunderstorm is expected to move through the Milford to Hopkinton and medfield areas between 7:30 and 8:30 p.m…
