Obituary: Joan Gresham, 73, of Westborough

The funeral service will be held Thursday.

Joan A.E. Gresham, 73, of Westborough, died on Saturday, Sept. 8, 2012 at the UMass Memorial Healthcare-University Hospital in Worcester. She was the wife of Oscar L. Gresham. Born in Atlanta, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Leroy and Emma (Johnson) Anthony. She was a graduate of Spellman College in Atlanta and earned a master's degree in physical Eeducation from Syracuse University. Joan was a physical education teacher in Georgia, she then became a swim instructor at the Syracuse YWCA in New York. After moving to Westborough, she worked as a tennis and swim instructor at the Worcester Swim Club. Most recently she worked as a property manager. Obituary: Alexis Alves of Leicester

Survivors include a grandfather and great grandparents, of Westborough.

Alexis Sophia Alves, eight-month-old daughter of Timothy J. and Jessica E. (Barry) Alves of Leicester, died peacefully on Friday, Sept. 7, 2012 surrounded by her loving family. Alexis was born on Jan. 5, 2012 in Worcester. In addition to her parents she is survived by one sister, Kayla Barry; two brothers, Sean Alves and Matthew Alves; her maternal grandfather, James Barry of Westborough; her paternal grandparents, Robert and Maureen Alves of Leicester; her maternal great grandparents, Thomas and Frances "Mickie" Barry of Westborough; her maternal great -great grandmother, Blanche Barry of Worcester and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Helen M. (Manning) Parker, 87, of Westborough passed away on Thursday September 6, 2012 at home surrounded by her loving family. Helen was the daughter of Arthur J. Manning and Eva (Bouche) Manning and was a lifelong resident of Westborough. Helen was married to the love of her life for sixty years, George E. Parker Sr., who predeceased her in 2006. She is survived by a son, George E. Parker Jr. of Westborough; a daughter, Sharon A. Hogan and her fiancé Doug Gravlin of Westborough; a granddaughter, LeeAnn Desmarais and her husband Rob Desmarais, as well as two great-granddaughters, Alyssa Jordan Desmarais and Ashley Taylor Desmarais, all of Shrewsbury. Arthur E. Charlton, 90, formerly of Westborough, passed away peacefully at his home at Seymour, TN, on Thursday, August 30, 2012. He was the husband of the late Olive (Comey) Charlton for over 55 years. Born in Barre, MA, he was the son of the late Mildred (Barr) Nelson and Archie Charlton. He was preceded in death by brothers Stanley and Archie Charlton and sisters Dorothy Grey and Phyllis Hamilton. He is survived by his sister Hilda Doucette of Hartford, CT. He enlisted in the USMC in 1941, serving his country in the South Pacific in the landing of Peleliu. Honorably discharged as a sergeant at the end of WW II. WESTBOROUGH - Olindo A. "Ollie" DeLollis, 97, of Westborough, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 2, 2012 at the Beaumont Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born in Worcester, he was the son of the late Domenic and Zalmira (Maiocco) DeLollis. He was educated in Worcester schools and was a graduate of the Commerce Business School. During WW II he served with the United States Army attaining the rank of First Lieutenant. Following WW II he served in the Army Reserves attaining the rank of Major. She was a graduate of St. Patrick's High School, Roxbury where she was a member of the perennial champion CYO Girls Basketball team. She was married for 56 eventful years to James C. Benjamin Randall Duce, 79, of Westborough, MA died with his family at his side after a brief illness on Tuesday, August 14, 2012. He was born in Brunswick, ME on May 18, 1933 and was the son of the late Dr. H. Benjamin Duce and Elizabeth (Randall) Duce. Ben is survived by his wife of 56 years, Diane (Stowell) Duce. Paul E. Rockwood, 79, passed away on Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at the UMass Memorial Healthcare - University Hospital, Worcester after being stricken ill. Born in Everett, he was the son of the late Cecil and Adeline (Higgins) Rockwood. Paul has been a resident of Westborough for the past five years previously living in the Everett area. His funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 21, at 1:00 P.M. in the Rand-Harper-Pickering Westborough Funeral Home, 62 West Main St., Westborough. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.
