The National Weather Service has issued a small stream flood advisory for parts of eastern Worcester County, including the Westborough area. The advisory runs to 10:45 a.m. According to NWS, a cluster of moderate to heavy rainfall is moving through the area and has potential rainfall rates of a half inch per hour. Most of the area has already received 2 to 3 inches of rainfall from this storm. The additional rain may lead to poor drainage flooding of low-lying areas. The rain is expected to gradually drop off to a lighter intensity as the morning continues. The National Weather Service issued a hazardous weather outlook for central and eastern Massachusetts, including Westborough.
The weather took a turn on Wednesday. Gone are the warm temperatures and sunshine from the past few days. The National Weather Service early Wednesday morning issued a hazardous weather outlook for much of New England, including Westborough and central to eastern Massachusetts. Rain will continue Wednesday, with possibly an inch of rain overnight, according to the outlook. Winds are expected to become gusty later Wednesday, and an advisory on that may be issued as well. Warning: Do not read any further if news of incredibly long periods of rain and clouds cause levels of depression.
The National Weather Service is predicting a pretty depressing forecast over the next week, with overcast skies and a significant chance of rain through Sunday. Downpours on Sunday and Monday were just a glimpse of things to come. "We are stuck in a dreary pattern that lasts all week," said Harvey Leonard, chief meteorologist at WCVB-TV Channel 5 in Boston. "Low pressure just to our southwest is spinning moisture into New England repeatedly. The storm is cut off from any eastward movement most of the week, so our weather simply doesn't change." We should see more of the same until Friday. "By Friday, the storm will start to weaken a bit and/or begin inching eastward," said Leonard in his blog. "This may allow a bit of slightly drier air …
