Downtown Has a Piccadilly Again

Piccadilly Place, featuring apartments and commercial space, opened in the former Piccadilly Pub building Tuesday.

Downtown Westborough has a Piccadilly again, in the same, now renovated, building as the previous one. Piccadilly Place, an apartment and commercial project, opened Tuesday at the Milk Street sites which previously had a Piccadilly Pub restaurant, as well as a Fayco Kitchen Bath Center. Selectmen Vice Chairman George Barrette and state Rep. Danielle Gregoire (D-Marlborough) cut the ceremonial ribbon. Project and town leaders then toured the building, which is owned by Stonegate Group LLC of Natick. Stonegate Chief Operating Officer Dean Calivas said that when the developers mentioned to town officials that they were working on "the old Piccadilly Pub building," a "smile would come to their face." “So, it’s quite natural for us when we …

Selectmen OK Brewpub

Owen O'Leary's plans to open by St. Patrick's Day.

Having a brewpub will allow Owen O’Leary’s Restaurant and Pub -- known for its fresh food -- to be competitive in Westborough, owner and manager Kevin Gill told selectmen Tuesday night. After a public hearing, selectmen unanimously approved the transfer of the Piccadilly Pub Restaurant's all alcohol liquor license at 17 Connector Road to Oscarita West LLC, which is Owen O'Leary's company. Selectmen also granted a common victualer permit to the new restaurant. “Our forte, really, is fresh food. I think we’ve been successful due to the fact that the high quality of food generally surprises people. They just think they’re going to get pub-style food. We want to maintain that," Gill said, noting that he employs "a very talented chef." “The …

New Pub Brewing at Former Piccadilly Site

Owen O'Leary's Restaurant and Pub hopes to open in Westborough before St. Patrick's Day.

Owen O’Leary’s Restaurant and Pub plans to open its third eatery – a brewpub – at the former Piccadilly Pub on Connector Road, targeting before St. Patrick’s Day. The move will end a four-year search for a new home for the brewpub that was at the Hampton Inn in Natick, Owen O’Leary’s owner Kevin Gill said Monday night. The Natick location closed in 2008, ending 12 years there, he said. Gill said he has signed a 20-year lease for the space at 17 Connector Road in Westborough, contingent on the proper permits. A Dec. 11 liquor license public hearing with selectmen is next. A late February-early March opening is eyed, he said. “For four years, we’ve been scouting for the right property,” Gill said. “We think that that location will make the …

Very excited. We visit the Southborough location of Owen O'Leary's frequently. They have wonderful specials on Sundays and Wednesdays called "Roast Nights" for dining. Our family has been going for years and it's become a tradition for us. Looking forward to visiting Owen's at its new location, too.   more ›

Mixed Use Planned for Milk Street

Former Fayco Kitchen Bath Center and Piccadilly Pub sites eyed for renovation.

The Milk Street sites that formerly housed the Fayco Kitchen Bath Center and the Piccadilly Pub are planned for renovation into a residential and commercial space project. Stonegate Group LLC of Natick has planning board and selectmen support for its plans for 3 Milk St. and 5-7 Milk St., which are being finalized, Chief Operating Officer Dean Calivas said today. Five apartments and about 7,500 square feet of commercial space among multiple suites are in the works, Calivas said. "The project will vastly improve the facade of both buildings and the appearance of the downtown area, particularly along Summer Street," he said. "I would think that by early spring, we'd be in a position to get some folks in there," he added. The Fayco Kitchen …

On Patch This Week

Piccadilly Pub Is One of 5 Top Stories This Week

It was a sad ending for a restaurant that started a Westborough run in the basement of the Arcade Building.

  1. Piccadilly Pub closed its doors this week. For many in Westborough, it ends a chapter that started down a flight of steps and into the basement of the Arcade Building on the rotary. Several years ago, the restaurant moved to Computer Drive. One of a chain of restaurants located in both Canada and the United States, the Piccadilly Pub succumbed to the bankruptcy that owners filed in June. 2. The barred owl that was rescued by Massachusetts State Police in the fall and treated at the Cummings School of Veterinarian Medicine at Tufts University was euthanized this week. The bird suffered a wing injury that proved to severe for recovery. 3. Coyotes were spotted near the pumping station in the Warren and Morse streets neighborhood this …
