WHS Prepared to Help Students Mourn Lizzi

Counselors will be available, school superintendent says.

Westborough High School will be prepared today to help students mourn former classmate Elizabeth "Lizzi" Marriott, School Superintendent Marianne O'Connor said Sunday night. "The high school crisis team will meet at 6:30 a.m. to discuss how best to identify students who may be affected by the situation," O'Connor said. "At 7 a.m., there will be a general faculty meeting. A moment of silence will take place. There will be opportunities throughout the day for students to write messages to the family and leave their thoughts on large sheets of paper in various locations in the school. Search for Student's Body Temporarily Halted

Rough waters forced searchers to put their recovery efforts on hold.

The search for the body of University of New Hampshire student and Westborough resident Elizabeth Marriott was temporarily halted Sunday due to rough waters in the Piscataqua River, according to WMUR. Associate Attorney General Jane Young told the television station that the "challenging waters" near Peirce Island in Portsmouth forced searchers to put their recovery efforts on hold. She said her office will be working with other agencies to determine that the next step will be. Seacoastonline reported that the attorney general's office does not expect to release any further information today. Elizabeth Marriott's Murder Shocks Friends

Marriott, a former high school prom queen, recalled as a very trusting and loyal friend. A vigil is taking place on Saturday night in Westborough.

Friends of Elizabeth Marriott were deeply saddened and shocked after they learned Saturday afternoon that the University of New Hampshire student had been murdered and that her body had not been recovered yet. Dawn Downey of Westborough and her daughter, Nicole, one of Marriott's closest childhood friends, along with Michelle Hunter, Nicole Downey's aunt, were present when NH Assistant Attorney General James Vara revealed to the media that Marriott had been murdered by Seth Mazzaglia, 29, of Dover, NH, and that her body had still not been located. Man Charged in Missing UNH Student's Death

A Dover, N.H., man has been charged with murder in the death of Elizabeth Marriott.

A 29-year-old Dover, NH, man has been charged with murder in the death of University of New Hampshire student and Westborough resident Elizabeth Marriott, the Attorney General's Office announced this afternoon. Seth Mazzaglia will be arraigned on a charge of second degree murder on Monday in Dover District Court. During a press conference at the Dover Police Station on Saturday, Assistant Attorney General James Vara would not comment on why Portsmouth Police are searching in the area of Peirce Island, only that the search to locate Marriott's body continues.
