IMAGE GALLERY: The Melissa Ewing Murals Bring Smiles Around Town
College freshman returns home to paint the town.
When Melissa Ewing was a student at Gibbons Middle School, she recalled, “I always wanted to paint a mural. I had seen one at Gibbons and thought to myself that I would love to do one someday.” Fast forward six years and she is now getting her wish. “At Oberlin College we have something called Winter Term, which is basically an extra long break where you do a project or participate in an activity of your choice,” Ewing explained. For her project, Ewing had ambitious plans to paint three murals in her hometown. “I’m really going all out,” Ewing said, adding that the project is self-directed and not for credit. “Some people are writing and performing a play, others are doing community service, some travel abroad.” She told Westborough Patch…
