Gas Prices Are Falling

The average cash price of regular unleaded in Westborough is just pennies above state average.

Westborough gas prices span a 10 cent range in town this morning, from a high of $3.499 to a low of $3.399.  AAA Southern New England’s Nov. 7 survey of prices in Massachusetts finds self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $3.399 per gallon. The current price is one cent below the national average for self serve unleaded of $3.40. A year ago at this time, the Massachusetts average price was $2.82. A quick survey of town gas stations between 8:30 and 9 a.m. today showed the following cash prices for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline: 3.399 – BP, Milk Street 3.399 – GasCo, Milk Street 3.499 – Shell, East Main Street 3.499 – Mobil, East Main Street 3.499 – Shell, Turnpike Road 3.499 – Mobil, Turnpike Road   Where are you buying your gas …

Town Gas Prices Higher Than State Average

Westborough Patch compared local prices to recently released state average.

The average price of a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline today in Westborough is $3.78, over 12 cents higher than the state average. A Sept. 12 survey released by AAA Southern New England shows that the Massachusetts average for the week is $3.659 per gallon, up a penny from a week ago and one cent above the national average of $3.64. During the noon hour today, Westborough Patch visited the six town gas stations (we did not include the service plaza on the Mass Pike) and found the following prices: $3.739 – Mobil, East Main Street $3.859  - Shell, East Main Street $3.759 – BP, Milk Street $3.599 – GasCo, Milk Street $3.859 – Mobil, Turnpike Road $3.879 – Shell, Turnpike Road A year ago at this time the Massachusetts average price was $2…

Ironically, the Board of Selectmen turned down a request by Stop & Shop to put in a gas station at their Lyman Street location because it would "hurt" gasoline station "small businesses" in town.   more ›

Police Investigating Robbery at Route 9 Mobil Station

A man fled from the scene in a stolen vehicle.

The Westborough Police Department is searching for a suspect in last night’s robbery of the Mobil Station on Route 9. Shortly after 11:30 p.m., a man walked into the station with his hand in his pocket, simulating a possible weapon. He demanded money of the attendant on duty and fled with an undetermined amount of cash. “He is a white male, wearing a blue Patriots shirt, blue pants and a blue ball cap,” Chief Alan Gordon told Westborough Patch this morning. The 53-year-old attendant on duty said the robber was a middle-aged man. As the robber drove off on Route 9 eastbound, the attendant was able to get the license number of the green Toyota Camry that the man was driving. A run of the plate number showed that the car had been reported …
