Driver, Thought Dead, Was Resuscitated by Emergency Personnel

The driver of a rolled-over tractor trailer was thought to be dead on scene, but was able to be transported to the hospital with "severe injuries."

State Police have released this statement about Monday's rollover crash in Hopkinton: Today at 1 p.m., troopers from the State Police Barracks in Weston responded to a tractor-trailer crash on the ramp from Route 495 to Route 90 westbound in Hopkinton. Preliminary investigation indicates that, for reasons still under investigation, the tractor-trailer rolled over on the ramp. The crash caused extensive damage to the cab, causing entrapment of and severe injuries to the operator.   Hopkinton Fire and Rescue extricated the operator, Feliz Piedade, 59, of East Providence, R.I., and rushed him to UMass Medical Center in Worcester. Driver Killed After Rollover Crash on Mass Pike

The incident happened in Hopkinton.

A driver of a tractor-trailer was killed after a rollover crash on the Massachusetts Turnpike in Hopkinton Monday afternoon, according to a scanner report.  The incident happened on the westbound ramp to Interstate 495, CBS reports. State police have not identified the driver.

State Police Arrested 1,100 More for OUI in 2012

Massachusetts State Police and local police departments will be out this holiday weekend looking for drunk, impaired and dangerous drivers.

Drunk driving arrests by Massachusetts State Police increased by 30 percent or more than 1,100 drivers, said Massachusetts State Police Superintendent Colonel Timothy Allen at a press conference outside of Massachusetts State Police headquarters in Framingham Friday morning. As of yesterday, Dec. 27, Massachusetts State Police had arrested 4,866 individuals and charged them with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. In 2011, Massachusetts State Police arrested 3,728 individuals. Massachusetts State Police and local police departments will be out in force this holiday weekend looking for drunk, impaired and dangerous drivers on the roads, as part of their Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over holiday campaign. State Troopers Recognized for Helping in NY, NJ After Hurricane Sandy

"There's nothing that I can compare to what I saw down there," said one of the 25 troopers that helped out after Sandy devastated nearby states.

Before Hurricane Sandy's full scope of devastation in New York and New Jersey was even known, 25 men and women from the Massachusetts State Police were on their way to assist those who had been displaced from their homes. "When I reached out to ask if the state police would be willing to field a group of 25 people, I already knew the answer," Undersecretary for Homeland Security and Director of MEMA, Kurt Schwartz said in a press conference in Framingham Monday afternoon. Westborough FD Handles Rollover on I-495

An Acton teenager was injured in the crash.

A rollover crash on Interstate 495 South in Southborough injured an Acton teenager this morning. Westborough and Southborough firefighters responded to the 6:20 a.m. crash at Exit 23C, state police said. The victim was driving a 2004 Honda Odyssey, state police said. She was taken to Marlborough Hospital for treatment.

Traffic Enforcement Ramps Up During Holiday Season

Troopers from all over New England want to help local drivers stay safe and prevent crashes during the holiday season.

Many residents will be traveling this week to see family and friends across New England. Massachusetts State Police said Monday they will help ensure impaired or distracted driving doesn't end these visits tragically. The Massachusetts State Police joined forces with other New England State Police divisions at headquarters in Framingham to explain their Combined Accident Reduction Effort (CARE) program. Increased patrols this week will be cracking down on impaired/drunk driving, texting while driving and seatbelt law violations, among other issues. 1 Injured in Tuesday's I-90 Crash

The injuries were not life threatening.

A one-car accident in the Massachusetts Turnpike eastbound median in Westborough left the driver with injuries that were not life threatening Tuesday, state police said Tuesday night. Westborough EMS took the 24-year-old Worcester man to the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester for treatment, state police said. State police did not give the driver's name. The driver of the car, a 1998 Mitsubishi Eclipse, has not been cited in the crash, which happened about 1:40 p.m., state police said. State police say they continue investigating the cause of the crash. The crash closed two lanes of the turnpike, the Massachusetts Department of Transportation Tweeted.

I-495 Crash During Tuesday Morning Commute Causes No Injuries

The two-car crash was reported at 8:20 a.m.

A two-car accident on Interstate 495 South at Route 9 in Westborough this morning caused no injuries, State Police said. A 1995 Mazda Protege was towed after the crash, which was reported at 8:20 a.m., State Police said. A 2011 Ford F150 also was involved.

State Police Continue Looking Into I-495 Crash That Injured Westborough Man

State police aren't identifying him.

State police continue investigating a two-car crash on Interstate 495 in Middleborough that killed a Carver man and injured a Westborough man. State police said today they're not identifying the 51-year-old Westborough resident because they still looking into the accident. The man was taken to Tobey Hospital in Wareham with non-life threatening injuries stemming from the 11:10 p.m. Thursday accident on I-495 southbound, north of Exit 2. The other driver, George Victoria, 50, of Carver was pronounced dead at the scene, state police said.
