Busy Commuters Get Ashes to Go

Ministers in Westborough and throughout the country observe Ash Wednesday with the Ashes to Go program.

  Some commuters at the Westborough and Grafton train stations carried on more than coffee and the newspaper this morning. In observance of Ash Wednesday, they were wearing ashes dispensed by local ministers through the Ashes to Go program. The program, which began five years ago, offers ashes to people at train stations and other busy areas. In Westborough, Rev. Jesse Abell of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church and Rev. Robert Williams of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Millville offered ashes to commuters at the Westborough station on Smith Parkway. Rev. Laura Goodwin of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in North Grafton and Rev. Lisa Green of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Sutton braved the morning chill at the Grafton station on Pine Street. …

A festive night of flapjacks and sausage was held at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church on Tuesday night.

On Tuesday night, St. Stephen's Episcopal Church on John St. ushered in Lent with a community dinner. The Mardi Gras Pancake Supper was a fundraiser put on by the church youth group to help subsidize their summer missions trip to Maine.
