Girl Scout Cookies; Should They be Compared to Fruit?

The Center for Science in Public Interest questions the Girl Scouts' comparison of a cookie to a fruit.

The Girl Scouts of the USA caught quite a bit of heat over the past week after introducing its new Mango Creme, and suggesting that the cookie has the nutritional equivalent of fruit. "It's bad enough that the Girl Scouts of the USA sells cookies to raise money, but it shouldn't pretend that its new 'Mango Crèmes with NutriFusion' are nutritionally equivalent to fruit, wrote the Center for Science in the Public Interest in a recent press release. The Center said, "the cookies at issue are 98 percent white flour, sugar, palm oil, and dextrose (sugar made from corn). Looking for Girl Scout Cookies?

The Westborough Girl Scouts have had booths set up around town during the weekends.

Motorists traveling through Westborough on the weekends are often picking up cookies along with their coffee and doughnuts. Westborough Girl Scouts are selling cookies at booths and tables around town. Westborough Patch spotted some on Route 30, near Sovereign Bank, on Saturday morning. The cookies are $4 per box, and eight varieties are available. The Scouts' schedule is found here.

Girls Scouts Thank Supporters

The cookie sale was a success.

Westborough Girl Scouts Send Cookies to Our Troops

Several girls from Troops 30510, 30507, 30555, and 30635 worked together to package and label all the cookies.

Girl Scouts from Westborough Troops 30510, 30507, 30555, and 30635 sold over 500 boxes of Girl Scout cookies to be sent to servicemen and women overseas. Pictured here are some of the girls with Lt.
