Today, we answer this emailed inquiry: I saw some workers on the Forbes Municipal Building roof Thursday. What's happening? Westborough Buildings and Grounds Supervisor Frank Cornine told Westborough Patch on Thursday that about an eight-foot section of copper bent to resemble crown molding flew off during a storm not long ago, and "the wood behind it was rotted." Crews began fixing the problem Monday, and should be finished today, Cornine said.

Storey, a Westborough Department of Public Works employee, said Wednesday that a man had approached the town manager about planting a garden for his mother, who had breast cancer. Public Invited to Talk About New Recreation Center

At its March 28 meeting, the Municipal Building Committee also scheduled public tours of the fire station.

  The Municipal Building Committee met on Wednesday, March 28 to continue its discussions on the renovation projects at Town Hall and the Forbes Municipal Building, the construction of a new fire station and the proposal to build a town recreation center. The panel scheduled a public meeting to get resident input about a new recreation center. The date is Tuesday, May 1. The group also planned two public open house dates at the fire station. Residents will be able to tour the station on Saturdays May 5 and 12 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. According to a posting on the town website, other highlights from the meeting include these actions:

Are you surprised by some of the decisions made by voters at the Saturday sessions of town meeting?

The Annual Town Meeting will continue on Monday, March 19 at 7 p.m. in the Westborough High School auditorium. The meeting will resume with Article 8. 2. At Special Town Meeting last night, voters said no to the proposed building renovation plans for Town Hall and the Forbes Municipal Building, and they also nixed the plan for the new Recreation Center. 3. IMAGE GALLERY: Pinewood Derby Rolls Into Forbes Building

Westborough Cub Scout Pack 100 held its annual race on Saturday, March 10.

  It was a new venue for Westborough Cub Scout Pack 100 and the annual Pinewood Derby on Saturday, March 10. After years of holding the event at the Westborough Senior Center, the Scouts and dozens of supporters turned out in the auditorium of the Forbes Municipal Building. Beginning at 10:30 a.m., a weighing station opened at the entrance to the auditorium and contestants lined up with their creations. Some of the cars were built for speed, others for creativity. Three parents weighed, measured and registered each car. The cars, designed from wooden blocks, must meet size regulations and weigh no more than 5 ounces. Races started at about 11:15. A crowd surrounded a large metal track which was set up in the middle of the hall. Cheers …
