Will Town Get Control of State Hospital Property?

It's a possibility that could become a probability, town officials tell Economic Development Committee.

The Economic Development Committee held its monthly meeting Nov. 1 in the Department of Public Works building on Oak Street. One of the most notable highlights from the meeting was news that the Town of Westborough may get control over the Westborough State Hospital property. Committee member and town selectman Ian Johnson updated the committee on the progress of the subcommittee to determine the fate of the state hospital. According to Johnson, the subcommittee recently conducted a successful first meeting with the state to discuss options for the best method to hand over control of the development of the property to Westborough. “This was a positive meeting because they made it clear that they want to work with us to make the outcome …

3 New Businesses to Move Into Bay State Commons

On Tuesday, June 7, the Westborough Economic Development Committee met at 8 a.m. in the Department of Public Works building. Established in 2008 to promote and retain businesses within Westborough, the committee meets the first Tuesday of every month. The following are the highlights from the June meeting. There is a proposal for a new gas station to be built near Green Thumb on Route 9. Joe's Sandwich Shop and Dunkin Donuts will be housed within the gas station. However, special permits are required before the building process can move forward. Three new businesses will be moving into the Bay State Commons: Surefire Dogs, Boston Ski & Tennis and a new Japanese steakhouse restaurant. There is ongoing discussion to form a Bay State Merchant…
