1 Faces Drunk Driving Charges

The arrest happened early Sunday.

A Westborough man faces drunk driving charges after being arrested on Route 9 near his home early Sunday. Police charged Isaac M. Mutesasira, 21, of 297 Turnpike Road, Apt. 315, with operating under the influence of alcohol, operating under the influence of alcohol per se: BAC 0.08 percent or above, marked lanes violation and possession of one ounce or less of marijuana, according to the Westborough Police log. The arrest happened at 1:56 a.m. Sunday, at Turnpike Road at Otis Street.

Alleged Drunk Driver Stops on Dealership Lawn

Northborough woman faces arraignment today.

An allegedly drunk driver from Northborough struck a jersey barrier on Route 9, drove off the road and onto the grass in front of a local car dealership late Tuesday night, Westborough Police Chief Alan Gordon said this morning. During booking in the 11:12 p.m. incident, police found an Oxycodone pill on Judy Houle, who did not have a prescription for it, Gordon said in a press release. And during the traffic stop, Officer Chris Atchue found Houle had a Florida driver's license, despite "living in Northborough for a considerable time," Gordon said. Alleged Drunk Driver Strikes Car in Driveway

The incident happened on Mill Road on Wednesday night.

An allegedly drunk driver drove a pick-up truck across a Mill Road lawn and struck a parked car Wednesday night, Westborough Police say. Police arrested Donna Poulin, 46, of 85 Howard St., Northborough and charged her with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, speeding and failure to keep within marked lanes, Police Chief Alan Gordon said in a press release this morning. "The investigation by Officer Chris Atchue revealed that Poulin’s vehicle left the roadway, traveled across the lawn at 30 Mill Rd. and struck a 97 Nissan which was parked in the driveway of this residence. Poulin then re-entered Mill Road, coming to rest near 28 Mill Road," Gordon wrote. Poulin was not injured in the incident, which happened …

Westborough PD Cracking Down on Drunk Driving as Labor Day Approaches

State Police, and 130 local departments, are participating in the state's 'Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over' mobilization.

Drunk drivers risk being pulled over by Westborough Police during this Labor Day season. Westborough is among 130 local police departments cracking down on drunk driving through Labor Day weekend, Police Chief Alan Gordon said Monday. The state's “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” mobilization began Saturday, the the Massachusetts Executive Office of Public Safety and Security’s Highway Safety Division said in a press release. Labor Day is next Monday, Sept. 3. The "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" effort includes "additional high-visibility enforcement activities, as well as a coordinated public education campaign" funded by federal highway safety money administered through the state to both State Police and the 130 local departments, …

"The purpose is to further educate the motoring public and strengthen the public’s awareness to the need of detecting and removing those motorists who operate under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs from our roadways," said Colonel Marian J.   The Massachusetts State Police will be in Worcester County Saturday evening conducting sobriety checkpoints on public roadways. The checkpoints will be in place late evening April 21 into the early morning hours of Sunday, April 22. I am glad to see that the police have finally incorporated a way to tell if a person is driving impaired by a different substance than alcohol (which is bad enough). If we understands alcoholism and drug addiction, then we know that it is a disease of denial, at the core, and that includes denial of being intoxicated.
