A free photo booth will be new to Wednesday's event.
Memories of the Corridor Nine Area Chamber of Commerce’s 22nd annual “Open for Business” Expo will wind up in many visitors’ scrapbooks. A free photo booth run by Crystal Entertainment Services is new to the event, which runs from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Doubletree Hilton Hotel Boston-Westborough, chamber Vice President Karen Chapman said Monday. “He just wants to expose this to other businesses as an opportunity for them to have it and hire him,” she said. Admission is free to the expo, which “started very much as a mini-show, and has grown into one of the most successful shows in this region,” Chapman said. Last year’s expo drew 1,300 visitors, and organizers expect a larger crowd this year. About 128 businesses will participate …

The Corridor Nine Area Chamber of Commerce presented its 2013 scholastic awards Thursday.
High school students Matthew Doyle and Brett Robinson both aspire to join the Boston Red Sox someday. Thursday, they were on the same Corridor Nine Area Chamber of Commerce team. The chamber presented its 2013 scholastic awards to 21 area high school seniors during its scholastic and champions of education awards breakfast at the Doubletree by Hilton Hotel Boston-Westborough. There were 42 applications, scholarship committee Chairman Donna Cox said. This year's awards total $16,000, partially funded by the chamber's annual golf tourney in June, she said. As Cox introduced the students individually, she noted that for Doyle, an Algonquin Regional High School senior, his "dream job is to become general manager of his beloved Boston Red Sox…

Polanowicz was the guest speaker at the chamber's membership breakfast.
State Health and Human Services Secretary John Polanowicz says the 15 agencies he oversees are working toward better communication with the public – and each other. Polanowicz was responding to a question during the Corridor Nine Area Chamber of Commerce’s membership breakfast at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Boston in Westborough. He was the guest speaker. “Let’s be candid. We’ve got work to do,” said Polanowicz, a Northborough resident. “We’ve built up over time a number of agencies that are very siloed from each other. A lot of people that are using the services under my secretariat are using more than one of those services.” Polanowicz addressed the group of business and community leaders for about 20 minutes before fielding two …

The Corridor Nine Area Chamber of Commerce's HYPE9 group donated the items Friday.
Local young professionals left winter coats, hats and mittens behind at Westborough’s Tatnuck Bookseller on Friday, despite the frigid weather. The new and gently used items went “directly to the kids” in Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Mass./MetroWest programs “that need extra winter clothes,” said Erin Harper, the agency's director of marketing and development. The Warm Winter Wishes Drive was the latest event by the Corridor Nine Area Chamber of Commerce’s HYPE9 group, which includes members ages 21 to 40. “It looks like we got a fantastic response,” said Harper, who brought the clothing donations to Big Brothers Big Sisters.
