Town Plans New Cemetery
Consultant is retained to begin second engineering phase.
The town of Westborough is keeping an eye to the future with regards to cemetery planning. “We’re just in the initial stages,” said Carl Balduf, Town Engineer. “There is not an imminent need for the new cemetery. This is a long range plan since we’re not running out of space with our current cemetery land.” But eventually the space at Westborough’s current active cemetery, Pine Grove Cemetery, will reach capacity. Pine Grove began in 1844, and has added many parcels over the years, with the most recent parcel added over 25 years ago. Cemetery Foreman Don Gale informed Westborough Patch that currently the town has close to 250 plots left at Pine Grove, and the annual consumption of plots is roughly 30.
