Olson was at Tatnuck Bookseller Sunday to take part in the Author Explosion event, which featured local authors for book signings as well as book readings. The event was hosted by the Worcester Writers Collaborative. Olson said the collaborative was founded in October after she and two childhood friends reconnected last summer. The group now has more than 60 members and tries to meet monthly. Most of the members are from Central …

Publishing a book might have been enough for most kids. Seeing it on the shelf at the bookstore, sharing space with Roald Dahl and Andrew Clements, may have fulfilled writing dreams. But not for enterprising Westborough High School junior Michael Colbert. At age 16, two years after the print release of his book Misadventures in Filgersville, he has pursued national and international exposure by releasing his book digitally for the Kindle e-reader. Colbert showed Westborough Patch the original notebook where he handwrote the first draft. "The idea just came to me, I'm not exactly sure how, but it's based on stereotypes in middle school." Colbert said the main characters include, "Chris the dumb jock and Melvin the tutor nerd who needs to…
