The Rangers will donate the proceeds from Wednesday night's game to the Wounded Warrior Project.
"My son's friends are in the military," Westborough High School varsity boys lacrosse head coach Tom Baker said Friday. "A lot of them will probably be deployed soon." Soldiers, veterans and their families are encouraged to attend Wednesday night's game between the Rangers and visiting Algonquin. The proceeds from the 5 p.m. "Face Off For a Cause" match at Westborough High will benefit the Wounded Warrior Project, which seeks "to honor and empower Wounded Warriors who incurred a physical or mental injury, illnesses, or wound, co-incident to (their) military service on or after September 11, 2001," according to its website. The fundraiser is the Rangers' community service project, Baker said. Admission is free, but donations will be …

Ticket sales from a game between the Grafton Indians and the Westborough Rangers benefitted the One Fund on Friday.
Although slow to gain momentum in the first quarter, Grafton's top scorers were too much for the Westborough defense to handle on Friday during one of the final lacrosse games of the season. "We try to keep the intensity up the whole time, listen to each other on the field and listen to coaches on the sideline," said Alan Rotatori, head coach of Grafton's Varsity lacrosse team. The team is 15-2 this season and has qualified for the playoffs which start following the final two games of the season. The Indians defeated the Rangers 17-9. All proceeds from ticket sales at the event that was attended by dozens of local residents benefited the One Fund.

The team held a Project Purple fundraiser at last Friday’s game.
The Westborough High School varsity girls lacrosse team held a Project Purple fundraiser at last Friday’s game. Team captains Karli Gavin, Sarah Connors and Charlotte Kruse led the project. “This year, over 100,000 kids had the courage and took a chance by wearing purple to school," said Project Purple founder Chris Herren, who spoke at Westborough High School recently. "Project Purple is about creating a sober culture within our school system. We will continue to educate, raise awareness, build self-esteem and empower kids to stand up against substance abuse.”" Herren's talk inspired the WHS girls lacrosse captains to develop last Friday's event. “Losing a very close family member to a drug addiction, I wanted a way to give back to …
