If he had just gone to court the first time, this wouldn't have happened. A Fitchburg man found himself on the wrong side of the bar in Westborough District Court this week when he was arrested for failing to appear for jury duty. When police pulled him over for failing to stop/yield, they found that he was wanted for skipping out on jury duty. No doubt his trip to court as a defendant will be less pleasant—and more expensive—than if he had simply shown up for jury duty. Why did the turtle cross the road? In Shrewsbury, he crossed the road because if he had stayed in the middle of it, he would have continued to block traffic. A Fitchburg man who allegedly skipped jury duty will find himself in Westborough District Court. McManus must pay fines and volunteer.
Bishop Robert J. McManus will not serve any jail time on charges of drunk driving after he admitted in court on Tuesday that he refused to submit to a chemical test, according to the Telegram and Gazette. McManus will lose his license for six months, pay roughly $900 in court fines, complete 10 hours of community service and attend alcohol education programs, according to the Telegram. These punishments correspond with admitting to refusing to submit to the test. The Narragansett Police Department will drop the drunk driving charge, according to the article. McManus had been charged following a hit-and-run accident earlier this month in Naragansett, R.I.
The incident occurred in Framingham over the weekend.
The Telegram and Gazette is reporting that former state Rep. Steven Levy (R-Marlborough) was arrested on assault charges early Saturday morning after allegedly assaulting his girlfriend in Framingham over the weekend. According to the report, an altercation occured outside of the Chicken Bone in Framingham when the married Levy was reportedly "kissing intimately" a woman in the parking lot, accordig to the Telegram. In the ensuing argument and physical altercation, Levy reportedly shook the woman violently and caused her to fall to the ground, the Telegram reported. Levy, 48, of 61 O'Grady Road, Marlborough was arrested at 5:15 a.m. Saturday on charges of domestic assault and battery at the Framingham Police Station, according to police. …
