Woman Runs Red Light, Sends Westborough Man to Hospital

Police said an Abington driver rear-ended another car, which ran into the car in front of it.

Press release submitted by Westborough Police. At 10:41 p.m. Saturday, May 19, the Westborough Police Department responded to a three-car accident on Rte. 9 west at Speedway Plaza. The operators of the vehicles were identified as Craig N. Mitchell, 68, of 135 E. Main St., Westborough, Christina M. Snyder, 25, of 93 Peregrine Rd., Abington, and Eunete Dossantos, 41 of 8 Walden Dr., Natick. Mitchell was treated at the scene by paramedics from the Westborough Fire Department for non life-threatening injuries and was transported to UMass Medical Center. The investigation revealed that a 2002 Mercury being operated by Mitchell was stopped at the lights at the intersection of Rte. 9 and Speedway Plaza. Mitchell's vehicle was struck in the rear …

Wednesday, May 16 Anselmo Palaguachi, 18, of 17 Chauncy St., Westborough, was summonsed to court on a complaint Feb. 21 by Westborough police and charged with driving with a suspended license and driving with a suspended registration. Judge Robert Calagione dismissed the first charge upon payment of $600 in court costs. He dismissed the second charge. Yollyang M. Olavarria, 22, of 27B Beaver Terrace Circle, Framingham, was summonsed to court on a complaint Jan. 10 by Westborough police and charged with marked lanes violation, driving without a license and failing to stop for a police officer. Artistic Westborough 3rd Grader Wins College Scholarship

Clarene Martin won second price in the Massachusetts Educational Financing Authority Annual College Savings Art Competition.

Armstrong Elementary School student Clarene Martin won second place in the Massachusetts Educational Financing Authority Annual College Savings Art Competition. The art contest, open to students throughout the state, required students to draw a picture of what they want to be when they graduate from college.  The third-grader will be awarded a $2,000 scholarship, made payable to a U.Fund College Investing Plan account. She will also be recognized with a visit to the Statehouse on June 22.  MEFA, with support from the state Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, opens the contest every year to Massachusetts students of public, private, charter and home-based schools in grades 3, 4, and 5. Not Your Average Joe's Armed Robbery Case Elevated to Higher Court

A pair that police said schemed together to rob the eatery has been indicted; one of the men worked there.

A man charged with robbing Not Your Average Joe's on New Year's Day has been indicted along with the kitchen worker police said assisted in the crime. Miguel Martinez, 40, of 4 Hathaway St., Apt. 1, Worcester, and Isabel O. Leiva, 28, of 71 Southgate St., Apt. 2, Worcester, will face charges at Worcester Superior Court because a grand jury handed down an indictment earlier this month. Westborough Police arrested Martinez in January after investigating the Jan. 1 robbery, which involved a masked man assaulting a Not Your Average Joe's manager and taking $1,000 cash, an mp3 player and a set of keys. Martinez was charged with armed and masked robbery. Further investigation led to the arrest of Leiva, who was working in the kitchen on the …
