Meet an Author, and Hear a Concert, This Week

Here are five pieces of information to help fuel your week in Westborough.

It's Monday, and that means we've put together this list of things going on in Westborough to help make your week a little brighter, easier and more fun. For a full list of things to do this week, look at the Patch calendar of events.

1.  Hear an author.

Qais Akbar Omar, author of "A Fort of Nine Towers: an Afghan Family Story," will present a program at 7 p.m. Monday at the Westborough Public Library.

2.  Shop, and support the Westborough Newcomers Club.

The club's Night of Holiday Shopping is at 7 p.m. Thursday at the First United Methodist Church of Westborough. The proceeds will help the club support local charities.

3. Attend the school committee meeting.

The Westborough School Committee meets at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Forbes Municipal Building. The agenda is here.

4. Catch a concert.

Band-o-Rama will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Westborough High School.

5. Meet two candidates for state office.

Gubernatorial candidate Juliette Kayyem and attorney general candidate Harold Naughton Jr. will be at the Tatnuck Bookseller on Lyman Street at 7 p.m. Tuesday. The Westborough Democratic Town Committee is sponsoring the program.
