Dave Kaiser joined the club about four years ago, around the time he opened the Central One Federal Credit Union on South Street, where he serves as the branch manager.

As the Rotary Club of Westborough prepares for its upcoming triathlon, Dave Kaiser is getting his feet wet.

Kaiser recently became the club’s president for 2013-2014.

He said he joined the club about four years ago, around the time he opened the Central One Federal Credit Union on South Street, where he serves as the branch manager.

“I found it was a great group of local people that really seemed to be committed to the community,” Kaiser said.

“That was something that seemed to fit with what I was interested in doing here, being a newer business person in the community.”

Kaiser said his goals are “continuing to do great events, such as the triathlon and the spring festival, and to really see those grow.”

The 4th Annual Westborough Sprint Triathlon starts at 8 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 18 at Westborough State Hospital, off Lyman Street.

The Rotary is partnering with Sun Multisport Events and the Central One Federal Credit Union on the fundraiser. Part of each registration fee will be donated to the American Diabetes Association. Registration fee information can be found here

The Rotary’s “big goal is to raise enough money that we can help the local community,” Kaiser said.

“We try to do the best we can,” Kaiser said.

The club has 51 members, making it “one of the larger rotary clubs in this area,” he said.

“Because we have a strong club to begin with, with a lot of folks that are active in the community, I think as other like-minded people in the community hear about what Rotary is doing, they get intrigued and they come to our meetings and they learn a little bit more about us,” he said.
