Items presently needed by the food pantry include:

  • juice - bottles or individual boxes/pouches
  • crackers/ cookies
  • sandwich crackers (peanut butter/ cheese etc.)
  • raman noodles
  • drink mixes
  • toiletries (soap, toothpaste, deodorant, shampoo)

Once the donation is made, the donor adds his or her name to the back of the torch and passes the torch to a neighbor or friend. Then the next person makes a donation, adds his or her name and passes the torch to a neighbor or friend. The torch passing will continue until mid-August.

Volunteers from In Your Shoes will pick up donations from the library and deliver them to the food pantry.

In a statement, In Your Shoes reported that summer is a particularly difficult time for those in need. “Hunger does not take the summer off but food drives and donations to the food pantry slow down significantly when residents go on vacation and school is not in session,” the statement read.
