Heat Delaying Commuter Rail by 15 to 30 Minutes

Delays of 15 to 30 minutes are planned for 1 to 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Even the Worcester-Framingham commuter rail is slowing down due to the heat.

Delays of 15 to 30 minutes are planned for 1 to 7 p.m. Tuesday "due to speed restrictions imposed on tracks as a result of high temperatures," Massachusetts Bay Commuter Rail officials said in a press release.

"As a safety precaution, heat-induced speed restrictions are issued on tracks based on predicted weather forecasts, usually when temperatures exceed 90
degrees and are sustained over a period of time."

The company operates and maintains the commuter rail.

The local Worcester-Framingham line stops are: Worcester/Union Station, Grafton, Westborough, Southborough, Ashland, Framingham, West Natick and Natick.
