100th Town Gets an Overture

The Westborough Community Band performed it at Bay State Park on Sunday night.

The 100th Town now has an overture that evokes its industrial period, as well as the centennial celebration, according to its composer.

The Westborough Community Band performed Evan Cadavieco's "The 100th Town Overture" Sunday night at Bay State Park.

The band performed at the park for the first time this summer, its fifth summer there, conductor Matthew Lefebvre said.

Cadavieco conducted the band during "The 100th Town Overture." He said Lefebvre had asked him to write a song about Westborough.

The band opened Sunday's concert with the National Anthem.

It then played "His Honor," by Henry Fillmore; "American Flourish," by Robert W. Smith; and "76 Trombones," from "The Music Man"
