Two Westborough Youth Cheer Teams Earn an 'A'

They won their divisions at a competition last Saturday.

Judges gave two new Westborough Youth Cheer teams an A at the squads' first competition last Saturday.

The U10 and U13 both won their divisions at the Central Mass. Youth Football and Cheer Conference Fun Competition, held in Clinton, Westborough Youth Cheer Director Jessica Meleski said Monday.

The teams next compete in the conference's Local Competition, on Oct. 20 at the Tsongas Arena in Lowell.

The Westborough teams were competing for the first time since the town's program started last year, she said.

"Basically, we were a start-up program last year," Meleski said.

"This year, we just really pulled it together. I didn't expect to get first place at the first competition."

Saturday, the teams were judged on such criteria as stunts, pyramids and tumbling, Meleski said.

The U10 team consists of: Clara Buttiglieri, Micayla Canales-McAleavey, Mya Foley, Rebecca Frogel, Eva Garvey, Cassidy Kronenberg, Mary-Alexandra Ladas, Drew McLaughlin, Ashley McMillen, Melissa McMillen, Ashley Meleski, Eva Sanders, Sophia Stilla, Grace Townsend, Mallory Walker and Riley Wright. The coaches are Tabatha Carsus, Jill McMillen and Jessica Meleski.

The U13 team consists of: Anoushka Batra, Carissa DaSilva, Jessica Freed, Courtney O'Connell, Rebekah Sager, Cassidy Shannon, Kyra Stupik, Ashley Taylor and Janie Underhill. The coaches are Tina DaSilva and Dustie Shannon.
