Rangers Girls Soccer Team is in Unchartered Territory

Westborough is undefeated, which is new and exciting for this roster.

The Westborough High School varsity girls soccer team has qualified for the districts, but taken an unfamiliar road there.

The Rangers are undefeated -- 10-0-2 -- with six regular-season matches left, including at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Quabbin.

"It's definitely exciting. It's never happened to us before. It's the first time that we've been completely undefeated all season," senior co-captain Katie Litwin said Monday.

"It's nerve wracking, because how long can you really stay undefeated for? But we're definitely hoping for the best, and we're planning on working hard to keep that."

Litwin said Westborough has "great team chemistry this year."

"There's never been any conflicts between any players," she said.

"And, we just know how to communicate with each other. There's a good balance, and respect on the team."

"We're very athletic, too," senior co-captain Kylie Bradley added.

Westborough has 14 seniors on its roster.

"That's a good strength for both us and the boys (varsity team): we're so senior-heavy," Bradley said.

Westborough was ranked 19th on ESPNBoston's list of the top 20 girls soccer teams as of Wednesday, Westborough's 2013 debut on that list.
