Late Quabbin TD Edges Westborough

The Rangers host Shrewsbury at 2 p.m. next Saturday.

On Westborough High School's super-hero themed Homecoming, the good guys lost.

Visiting Quabbin defeated the Westborough High School varsity football team, 45-40, on Saturday.

Dylan Kierman's 22-yard touchdown pass to Nicholas Thyden with 38.9 seconds left won the game for the Panthers.

The Rangers had taken a 40-39 lead with 8:27 left, on senior tri-captain/quarterback Dan Orlando's six-yard run and senior Jack Chuma's extra-point kick.

The teams traded touchdowns throughout the game. The biggest lead was 11 points; Quabbin led, 26-15, just 1:34 into the third quarter.

Quabbin (4-1) led 19-15 at halftime.

Westborough (0-5) hosts Shrewsbury at 2 p.m. next Saturday.
