Profilo Day Spa Lending Westborough Food Pantry a Hand

The spa's third annual Black Monday Event for the food pantry is from 5 to 8 p.m. Dec. 2 at 30 Lyman St.

Westborough's Profilo Day Spa will lend the Westborough Food Pantry a hand next Monday night while doing manicures.

The spa's third annual Black Monday Event for the food pantry is from 5 to 8 p.m. Dec. 2 at 30 Lyman St.

Organizers hope to raise $5,000 for the food pantry through sales of raffle tickets, for $1, and voluntary donations for mini-services by Profilo staff during the event, spa owner and stylist Alfredo Speziale says.

The spa also is accepting donations of non-perishables. The spa donated about 600 to 700 pounds last year, he says.

"Profilo is committed to giving back to the community every year" such as the Make a Wish Foundation, and the Sherry House in Worcester, Speziale says.

Profilo began supporting the food pantry after clients mentioned the need, he says.

"It was the best thing, because all the clients loved it. Everybody loved it. We produced a lot of food and money for them. And there was such a good feeling from all of us working. Everybody dedicated time into that," Speziale says.

Last year's event raised nearly $1,000 through voluntary donations, he says.

This year, Profilo is requesting $1 per raffle ticket. Gift certificates to businesses, and for services donated by Profilo staff, will be available in the drawings, Speziale says.

Also, Profilo staff will do mini-services at the event, for a donation.
