WHS Spanish Teacher Proposes Europe Trip

The school committee heard the plans Wednesday night.

A Westborough High School Spanish teacher wants to lead a foreign language student trip to Europe in June and July, during summer vacation.

Alyssa Achenbach told the school committee Wednesday night the group would fly to Paris, and visit Barcelona and Madrid before returning home.

The trip would offer students “the benefits of experiencing a foreign language in the authentic communities,” Achenbach said.

The current cost of $3,600 “subject to change depending on student interest,” as well as departure fees, Achenbach said.

So far, 17 students have expressed interest, she said.  She said her goal is 10 to 12 students.  Chaperones will be part of the trip.

A parent meeting will be held today, Achenbach said.

The school board will decide on the trip after reviewing paperwork on it.
