WHS Choirs to Sing in Maryland

The school committee approved the April trip Monday night.

The Westborough High School choirs will sing in and explore Annapolis, Md. in April.

Monday night, the school committee approved the April 10 to April 13 overnight trip proposed by WHS Director of Choral Music Alyson Greer Espinosa.

The trip to Annapolis, and Baltimore, seeks mainly to "expand the horizons musically, educationally, historically" pf the students, who will participate in a music festival with students from across the country, Greer Espinosa said.

"They'd have the opportunity to hear other choirs, other orchestras, other bands," she said.

The Westborough students also will explore Annapolis' history, including the U.S. Naval Academy; sing in the Naval Chapel; and take a walking tour of historic Annapolis, Greer Espinosa said.

The studens will also take a harbor cruise, she said. And "if time allows," Greer Espinosa said she hopes the students will have "an opportunity to take a master class."
