Suspicious Person Report at Mill Pond Was False Alarm

School officials e-mailed Mill Pond parents about the situation, School Superintendent Marianne O'Connor said.

A Mill Pond School student's report Wednesday that "he thought he had seen a suspicious person" on the school property was a false alarm, School Superintendent Marianne O'Connor said Wednesday night.

Three police officers immediately responded to the school, at 6 Olde Hickory Path, and searched the grounds, O'Connor told the Westborough School Committee.

O'Connor said she immediately called Police Chief Alan Gordon after receiving a call from Principal Suzanne Kenny, who had just spoken with the student.

"While I was on the phone with Chief Gordon, I could hear the sirens going," O'Connor said.

The student "recanted his story, and said he was mistaken. It was unfortunate," the superintendent said.

School officials e-mailed Mill Pond parents about the situation, O'Connor said.
