School Committee Supports O'Connor's Budget Proposal

Voters will set the budget at the March 15 annual town meeting.

The Westborough School Committee voted Wednesday night to support School Superintendent Marianne O'Connor's budget proposal for next year.

The proposed $43,743,054 budget includes a total staff increase of 5.15 full-time-equivalent positions, including one new third grade teacher at the Fales Elementary School and a new second grade teacher at the Hastings Elementary School, O'Connor has said. It also includes the reduction of 1.6 full-time-equivalent positions, including a full-time guidance counselor.

The proposal represents a 2.46 percent budget increase from the current year.

O'Connor's budget presentation is available on the school district's website.
