School Board Chairman Suspected in Alleged Assault at Community Pool

Ilyse Levine-Kanji will be summoned to a show cause hearing at Westborough District Court, police said.

Westborough School Committee Chairman Ilyse Levine-Kanji is suspected in an alleged assault at Westborough's community pool on Thursday.

The alleged victim, a 42-year-old Rocklawn Road resident, came to the Westborough Police Station at 7:30 p.m. Thursday and "alleged that she was assaulted" at the pool, off Hundreds Road, at 4:25 p.m., Police Chief Alan Gordon said today in a press release.

"The victim did have an obvious injury from being struck with a fist under her eye," Gordon said.

Levine-Kanji, 47, of 11 Rocklawn Road, was identified as the suspect, Gordon said.

"The investigation by Off. Dean Paine resulted in two witnesses being interviewed. They corroborated the victim's story," the chief said.

"Levine-Kanji was contacted but declined to be interviewed. She will be summoned to a hearing to show cause at the Westborough District Court before the clerk magistrate."
